Smiling man scratching his head.

Jonathan D. Kroeger is a musical storyteller. He strives to tell stories that show the many experiences that come with being human. His strong tenor voice can be heard around the Northwest Ohio in the Toledo Opera and at various performances in Bowling Green ranging from operas and musicals to solo recitals. His interests include music for the stage, religious music, and contemporary music. His upcoming performances include singing in the chorus for Toledo Opera's production of Gounod's Roméo et Juliet and performing as Peter in the premiere of Stephen Deeter's Beethoven's Razor.

His compositions range from large scale band and orchestral works as well as small, intimate solos. His experience as a singer informs his writing which is often lyrical with memorable melodies. His micro-opera Matchless was selected from proposal for performance as part of Bowling Green State University's MicroOpera program and will be premiered in Bryan Recital on February 9, 2024.

As an extension of his interest in storytelling, he gladly takes up the baton or sits in the director's chair (though he usually prefers to stand next to it. :) ) He acted as vocal director, edited performance tracks, conducted, and called staging changes for Actor Community Theatre's 2023 production of The Wizard of Oz. He co-directed a performance of Missy Mazzoli's A Flourish of Green at the Bowling Green State University New Music Festival. He has organized and stage-managed performances from solo recitals to multi-ensemble galas. He also serves as music director for Trinity United Methodist, organizing special guests and directing the choir.

Jonathan D. Kroeger has received a BM cum laude in Vocal Performance from DePauw University and is currently pursuing an MM in Composition as well as an MM in Voice from Bowling Green State University.
