Full Bio
Jonathan D. Kroeger is a musical storyteller. He strives to tell stories that show the many experiences that come with being human. His strong tenor voice can be heard around the Northwest Ohio in the Toledo Opera and at various performances in Bowling Green ranging from operas and musicals to solo recitals. His interests include music for the stage, religious music, and contemporary music. His upcoming performances include singing in the chorus for Toledo Opera's production of Puccini's Tosca and a masters recital featuring at least two world premieres.

His compositions range from large scale band and orchestral works to small, intimate solos. His experience as a singer informs his writing which is often lyrical with memorable melodies. His micro-opera Matchless was selected from proposal for performance as part of Bowling Green State University's MicroOpera program and was premiered in Bryan Recital on February 9, 2024.

As an extension of his interest in storytelling, he gladly takes up the baton or sits in the director's chair (though he usually stands next to it. :) ) He acted as vocal director, edited performance tracks, conducted, and called staging changes for Actor Community Theatre's 2023 production of The Wizard of Oz as well as their 2024 production of The Sound of Music. He acted as co-director for a performance of Missy Mazzoli's A Flourish of Green at the Bowling Green State University New Music Festival. He has organized and stage-managed performances from solo recitals to multi-ensemble galas. He also served as a church music director; organizing special guests, directing the choir, leading hymns, and performing both older and contemporary religious music.

Other projects include creating websites for over a dozen clients, including maintaining a university website and building artist portfolio websites from scratch. He creates score videos for his own as well as others' works and has acted as stage manager for a variety of concerts and performances.

Jonathan D. Kroeger has received a BM cum laude in Vocal Performance from DePauw University and is currently pursuing an MM in Composition as well as an MM in Voice from Bowling Green State University.

Jonathan D. Kroeger is a musical storyteller. As both a composer and a performer, he believes the story of a work is paramount in connecting with an audience. He currently attends Bowling Green State University in pursuit of a Masters of Music in Composition as well as a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance. Recent Projects include the premiere of his microopera Matchless as well a piano solo “Void.” He is currently creating the first edition of the songs of Anne Louise Brillon de Jouy. His music can be regularly heard around Northwestern Ohio, and he performs in the Toledo Opera Chorus.
